Access to education is central in aligning Pacific Life’s purpose of providing Confidence for Generations to its philanthropic investments in college and career readiness. This is why, for the eighth year in a row, the Pacific Life Foundation is proud to partner with Life Happens to award $75,000 in Life Lessons Scholarships to five students who lost a parent without life insurance. This initiative, part of Life Insurance Awareness Month, reflects Pacific Life’s commitment to its value of Integrity, doing the right thing for our communities.
More than 220 Pacific Life Volunteers, including summer interns, reviewed applications to help determine this year’s recipients. Each scholarship applicant shared personal stories of loss, hardship, and perseverance. Despite facing unimaginable challenges at a young age, these students have shown remarkable resilience and strength, pursuing higher education as a path to a better and financially secure future. By funding these scholarships, the Pacific Life Foundation is not only helping ease the financial burden of college but also reinforcing the importance of life insurance in protecting families’ financial security.
“Losing a parent is unimaginable, especially when children are faced with new and overwhelming financial responsibilities. These students’ stories showcase their resilience and strength and resonate deeply with Pacific Life and its employees. We are proud to support the Life Lessons Scholarship Program that highlights the vital role life insurance plays in protecting families' financial security.” - Tennyson Oyler, President of the Pacific Life Foundation.
To date, the Foundation has contributed more than $600K in college scholarships through the Life Lessons Scholarship Program, focusing on students in regions where Pacific Life employees live and work.
