What is your role and what are your responsibilities?

In broad terms, I work with data and people. I use analytical methods and tools to extract meaning from the data Pacific Life has compiled and seek to derive insights that better inform those making business decisions. I work with subject matter experts from different business areas to understand problems and define objectives. I collect data from multiple sources, cleanse, prepare, analyze, apply algorithms, run experiments, develop reports and visualizations, communicate findings, and work with other teams to integrate work products into existing systems and/or business processes.

What skill do you feel is your biggest asset in performing your job?

I would say it’s a combination of having an engineering background, allowing me to hone an analytical and problem-solving mindset, and years of data warehouse experience specifically in the financial services industry. A good understanding and sense of the data, persistence, curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning also go a long way.

What do you do when you’re not working?

Most of my weekend time is devoted to family and church events or community volunteer activities. I love to travel and get a feel for different locales, cuisines, and cultural experiences. My top three favorite places I have visited are: Rome for its art, history and cuisine; Jerusalem for the life-changing impact it had on me; and Angkor Wat in Cambodia for the sense of awe and humility it gave me.
