Marine Mammals Education, Conservation, and Research Efforts Supported by the Pacific Life Foundation
The Pacific Life Foundation’s contribution to whale preservation, conservation of marine mammals, and improving the health of the oceans pre-dates our first national television commercial production featuring the humpback whales.
Since 1997, the Pacific Life Foundation has contributed more than $5.25 million to a significant number of nonprofit organizations whose collective mission is to improve our marine environment. Click the link above to see a list of agencies that we either currently fund, or have funded in the past.
Major Focus Programs
In 2013, the Pacific Life Foundation provided $560,000 to programs that promote marine mammal conservation, education, and research. Click the link above to see some examples of our major funding in these areas.
Southern California Marine Mammal Workshop
The 5th annual Southern California Marine Mammal Workshop was held on January 31 & February 1, 2014. It was organized by and for marine mammal researchers who work in the Southern California Bight region. The workshop was sponsored by the Pacific Life Foundation with an overall goal of providing an atmosphere conducive to introductions and discussions, and thus foster collaboration between researchers in the Southern California region.
Requests For Marine Mammal Research Grants
Marine Mammal research grant requests are not accepted through the Foundation’s annual general and capital grant application process (July 15 – August 15). Researchers affiliated with a nonprofit organization that are interested in submitting a request for marine mammal funding must submit their requests ONLY when Request for Proposals (RFPs) are issued through The Ocean Foundation/Pacific Life Foundation Whale Research Fund. There is no RFP issued at this time.
