Pacific Life Foundation Awards $180,500 to Nonprofits and K-12 Schools in Lynchburg, Virginia

 

LYNCHBURG, Va. – Jan. 29, 2018 – The Pacific Life Foundation announced today that it has awarded $180,500 in grants to nonprofit organizations in the greater Lynchburg, Virginia area. Grants totaling $80,000 have been awarded to 13 local nonprofit organizations in the areas of arts and culture; civic, community and environment; education; and health and human services. The 2018 Virginia recipients include:

  • Alzheimer's Association, Central and Western Virginia
  • Amazement Square
  • American Red Cross of Blue Ridge
  • Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Virginia
  • Blue Ridge Area Food Bank
  • Boys & Girls Club of Greater Lynchburg
  • Casa of Central Virginia
  • Girls on the Run of Central Virginia
  • HumanKind
  • IRON Lives
  • Jubilee Family Development Center
  • Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra
  • Miriam's House

 

The Pacific Life 3T’s of Education program has awarded a total of $50,500 in grants to local K-12 schools where concentrations of children and grandchildren of Pacific Life employees attend. The educational grants must be designated in one of the following areas: teacher training, textbooks or technology. The 16 Lynchburg area schools include:

  • Appomattox County High School
  • Appomattox County Middle School
  • Boonesboro Elementary School
  • Brookville High School
  • Brookville Middle School
  • Concord Elementary School
  • E.C. Glass High School
  • Heritage High School
  • Jefferson Forest High School
  • Leesville Road Elementary School
  • Monelison Middle School
  • Perrymont Elementary School
  • Rustburg High School
  • Temple Christian Academy
  • Tomahawk Elementary School
  • Yellow Branch Elementary School

 

In addition to the grants listed above, Pacific Life is a sponsor of the Academy Center of the Arts; the Alzheimer’s Association, Central and Western Virginia; and the American Heart Association.

Supporting communities where Pacific Life employees work and live, the Pacific Life Foundation expects to give a total of $7 million in charitable funding in 2018, as well as provide multiple onsite and offsite service opportunities for employees to give back to their community in celebration of the company’s 150th anniversary year.
