Pacific Life Honored as One of Orange County’s Civic 50 Companies

Inaugural Honors Recognize Most Community-Minded Organizations Who Are Setting the Standard for
Corporate Civic Engagement in Orange County

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. – Oct. 23, 2017 –Pacific Life has been named one of Orange County’s most community-minded organizations by The Orange County Business Journal (OCBJ) and OneOC in the inaugural 2017 Civic 50 Orange County (Civic 50) Awards. Determined by a national Civic 50 online survey, the findings were culminated in a report showcasing the organizations’ best practices in engaging their communities and setting the standard for corporate civic engagement in Orange County. Honorees were selected based on four dimensions of their community engagement programs, including investment, business integration, institutionalization, and social and business impact.

“Pacific Life is proud to designate a majority of its annual funding to Orange County communities where Pacific Life employees work and live,” said Tennyson Oyler, vice president of Brand Management and Public Affairs, Pacific Life. “For us, philanthropy is more than just writing a check. Our employees take pride in working for a company that mirrors their values, as demonstrated by the thousands of employee volunteer hours at hundreds of events benefiting Orange County nonprofits annually.”

The Civic 50 sets the standard for corporate civic engagement and is a roadmap for organizations seeking to best use their time, talent, and resources to improve the quality of life in communities where they do business. Through their leadership, the Civic 50 organizations are creating a path for other Orange County business leaders and corporate responsibility practitioners who want to help their organizations translate good intentions into sound business practices.

The OCBJ annually publishes a ranking of both privately held and public corporations by the total amount of philanthropic funding contributed to all nonprofits from the previous year. For this year’s lists, for the first time, rankings of corporate and private foundational giving to Orange County charities were included. Pacific Life was ranked number two with $4.1 million provided to Orange County charities in 2016. Pacific Life’s total charitable giving in 2016 was $6.25 million.
