Pacific Life Announces Officer Promotions
Newport Beach, Calif. (March 29, 2013) - Pacific Life Insurance Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer James T. Morris recently announced twelve officer promotions. The following promotions will be effective April 1, 2013.
Richard Vrieling to senior vice president, Corporate Information Technology, Corporate Division
Mr. Vrieling, a resident of Orange, joined Pacific Life in 1986 as a programmer/analyst in the Securities Technology department. In 2008 he was promoted to vice president of Information Technology for Pacific Life's Investment Management group and he transferred to Corporate Information Technology in 2011. In his new role as senior vice president, Mr. Vrieling will oversee the Information Technology departments supporting multiple business divisions and subsidiaries of Pacific Life.
Brian Woolfolk, FSA, MAAA, to senior vice president, Product Design and Pricing, Retirement Solutions Division
A resident of Foothill Ranch, Mr. Woolfolk joined Pacific Life in 2010 as assistant vice president, Product Actuary, and was subsequently promoted to vice president. As senior vice president, Mr. Woolfolk will continue to serve as the Chief Pricing Actuary for the Retirement Solutions Division and manage all aspects of product design and pricing, including product research, development and pricing, and directing quality assurance of actuarial models. Mr. Woolfolk received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Minnesota.
Steve Bollinger, CFA, to vice president, Technology, Retirement Solutions Division
Mr. Bollinger, a resident of Fountain Valley, joined Pacific Life in 1995 as an application analyst in Pacific Life's Investment Management Division. He assumed the role of assistant vice president of E-commerce in 2005 in the Retirement Solutions Division, with responsibility for the Division's Internet, Extranet, and Intranet websites and business applications. As vice president, Mr. Bollinger will have responsibility for the development and quality assurance of all software applications supporting Pacific Life's retail annuity, mutual funds, and institutional product lines. Mr. Bollinger received a bachelor's degree in economics and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
Charlene Grant to vice president and counsel, Corporate Division
Ms. Grant joined Pacific Life in 1995 as an assistant vice president for Variable Regulatory Compliance, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of regulatory filings including SEC registration, state filings, and regulatory filings for variable products. As vice president and counsel, Ms. Grant will continue to direct the provision of legal advice regarding variable insurance products, mutual funds, and securities laws and regulations, as well as oversee the consideration of key business alternatives, and short and long-term planning initiatives for Pacific Life's Law Department. A resident of Corona del Mar, Ms. Grant has a bachelor's degree in French from the University of New Hampshire, and a Juris Doctor from the University of New Hampshire School of Law.
Nancy Hill to vice president, Compliance, Retirement Solutions Division
A resident of Dove Canyon, Ms. Hill joined Pacific Life in 2007 as an assistant vice president for Regulatory Compliance in the Retirement Solutions Division. As vice president, Ms. Hill will continue to provide guidance and direction on regulatory and business process compliance issues relating to variable annuity products and mutual funds. In addition, she will oversee all aspects of state filings, regulatory review, complaint handling, business evaluation, and oversight of issues with FINRA, SEC, and governmental rules relating to variable annuities, fixed annuities, institutional annuities, and mutual funds. Ms. Hill received a bachelor's degree in economics from Emmanuel College.
Mark Pellicano to vice president, Institutional Channel, Life Insurance Division
Mr. Pellicano joined Pacific Life in 2011 as a national sales manager for Long-Term Care Marketing and Distribution. In that role, he was responsible for developing and managing the sales, marketing strategy, and execution of marketing plans for the newly developed long-term care product, Pacific PremierCare. As vice president, he will assume management responsibilities of all institutional sales functions related to the wirehouse, bank, and Edward Jones channels, as well as the Pacific PremierCare team. A resident of Annapolis, Maryland, Mr. Pellicano received his bachelor's degree in business from Wesley College.
Janice Sutton to vice president, Field Operations, Life Insurance Division
Ms. Sutton, a resident of San Clemente, joined Pacific Life in 1998 as a training facilitator, responsible for training plans for Client Services teams. Following multiple promotions, she was promoted in 2010 to assistant vice president, Marketing and Distribution, with responsibility for Pacific Life's Life Insurance Division regional sales operations functions. In her new role as vice president, Ms. Sutton will assume responsibility for the management and direction of field support and operations across all Life Insurance Division sales and marketing channels. Ms. Sutton received a bachelor's degree in business administration from Webster University.
William Bell to assistant vice president, Advanced Designs, Life Insurance Division
A resident of La Mirada, Mr. Bell joined Pacific Life in 2003 as a senior advanced designs analyst in the Life Insurance Division. Since that time, he has been promoted several times and is currently responsible for representing Pacific Life at various industry meetings and events, as well as leading an Advanced Designs team. Mr. Bell will continue to provide his technical expertise to all distribution channels and the Advanced Designs unit in his new role as assistant vice president. Mr. Bell received his bachelor's degree in history from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and his Master of Business Administration and a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University.
Keith Buck, CLU, FMLI, to assistant vice president, Advanced Designs, Life Insurance Division
Mr. Buck joined Pacific Life in 2008 as an advanced designs manager in the Life Insurance Division. He was promoted to director of Advanced Designs in 2010 and is presently responsible for representing Pacific Life's Life Insurance Division at industry meetings, producer organization meetings, and other sales and marketing events, as well as leading an Advanced Designs team. As assistant vice president, he will continue to provide his expertise to financial professionals and lead his team. A resident of Laguna Niguel, Mr. Buck received a bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa, a Juris Doctor from Drake University Law School, and a Master of Laws from Boston University.
Sharon Matthews to assistant vice president, Application Development, Life Insurance Division
Ms. Matthews joined Pacific Life in 2012 as a director of Application Development for the Life Insurance Division. Since that time, she has been instrumental in building technical resource teams that support the division's new products, including Pacific PremierCare. As assistant vice president, Ms. Matthews will continue to focus on aligning technology solutions to support the business objectives of the Life Insurance Division, as well as provide leadership and direction to the Application Development team. A resident of Tustin, Ms. Matthews received a bachelor's degree in cybernetics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
DeAnne Reed to assistant vice president, Servicing Operations, Real Estate Investments
A resident of Lake Forest, Ms. Reed joined Pacific Life in 1998 as a senior portfolio setup specialist in the Real Estate Division. In her current role as director of Portfolio Operations, she oversees all core real estate asset management and portfolio servicing functions, including construction loan administration, credit surveillance, customer service, risk management, and the servicing operations unit. Ms. Reed's promotion to assistant vice president recognizes her increased responsibilities for managing all aspects of the asset management function associated with Pacific Life's mortgage loan portfolio. Ms. Reed received a bachelor's degree in organizational leadership from Chapman University.
Carol Rumsey to assistant vice president, Compliance, Corporate Division
Ms. Rumsey joined Pacific Life in 1990, where she progressed through a variety of roles and transferred to the role of compliance manager in the Corporate Division in 2007. In her current role as compliance director, she is responsible for the compliance activities of Pacific Asset Management, assisting in the development of Pacific Global Advisors' compliance program, and providing compliance services and guidance to other mutual fund and investment adviser entities. As assistant vice president, Ms. Rumsey will expand upon her current compliance responsibilities in becoming the chief compliance officer for Pacific Asset Management. A resident of Laguna Niguel, Ms. Rumsey received a bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University and a Master of Business Administration from the University of California, Irvine.
