In January 2016, Ms. Byerwalter was named the interim president and CEO of Stanford Health Care. She also serves as chairman of the Board of Directors of SRI International, an independent nonprofit technology research and development organization, and chairman of JDN Corporate Advisory, LLC, a privately-held advisory services firm. Before joining JDN Corporate Advisory, Ms. Byerwalter was chief financial officer and vice president for Business Affairs of Stanford University from 1996-2000 and special advisor to the president of Stanford University through 2001.
Prior to this, she was a partner and co-founder of America First Financial Corporation, an affiliate of America First Companies of Omaha, NE. Ms. Byerwalter was also the chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and a director of AmericaFirst Eureka Holdings, the holding company for Eureka Bank, a publicly traded institution. She was the chief financial officer of Eureka Bank from 1993 - 1996, and was a member of the Eureka Bank board of directors from 1988 until the company was sold to BayView Capital in 1998. She also was vice president for Strategic Planning and Corporate Development at BankAmerica Corporation, managing the acquisitions and divestitures for BankAmerica.
Ms. Byerwalter is also a director of Burlington Capital Company, Franklin Resources, Inc., Redwood Trust, Inc., and WageWorks, Inc. In addition, she is a trustee emerita of the Stanford University Board of Trustees, serves on the Stanford Hospital and Clinics Board of Directors, and is a director of the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital. Ms. Byerwalter has been chosen as the 2015 recipient of the Stanford University Gold Spike Award, presented for exceptional volunteer leadership service. She has also been awarded the 2015 Stanford Medical School's Dean's Medal, given to individuals whose contributions have significantly advanced the mission of Stanford Medicine.

Ms. Byerwalter currently serves as a director of both Pacific Mutual Holding Company and Pacific LifeCorp, and serves on the Audit Committee (chairman) and the Governance & Nominating Committee.
