Business History
Mr. Byrd joined Deloitte & Touche in 1978 serving as a staff auditor and audit manager.  He joined Boeing in 1984, serving as manager of General and Cost Accounting and manager of Internal Audit. During that time he had international assignments in Rome, Italy and Sydney, Australia.

In 1990, Mr. Byrd joined Pacific Life as assistant vice president, Audit following 12 years of management experience in audit, internal control, and general accounting. Mr. Byrd was promoted to vice president, Corporate Audit and Financial Planning in 1991 and he was promoted to vice president and controller in 1992. In 2003, he added the title of chief accounting officer and was promoted to senior vice president in 2006. In his current role, Mr. Byrd oversees accounting and financial reporting for the entire enterprise, including regulatory financial filings. He is also chair of the company's disclosure committee and a principal contact for accounting and financial reporting matters with independent auditors, rating agencies, and regulators.

He currently serves as the senior vice president and chief accounting officer to several of Pacific Life's subsidiary companies. Mr. Byrd is also the chief financial officer of the Pacific Life Foundation.
