Pacific Life's full-time Summer Actuarial Internship Program is an excellent way to jumpstart your career. As an intern, you work with dynamic teams on a variety of meaningful projects and receive a thorough introduction to a career as an Actuary. This competitively compensated and exciting opportunity runs from June to August at the beautiful Newport Beach and Aliso Viejo offices.
Training: You receive on-the-job training with programs such as MS Excel, MS Access, and other actuarial modeling software packages.
Mentors: You are assigned peer and executive mentors who help with the transition into a corporate environment and give career advice.
Workshops & Presentations: You attend workshops on actuarial exam preparation, business etiquette, and presentation skills. In addition, interns attend presentations by the Appointed Actuary and other key actuaries from:
- Enterprise Risk Management
- Retirement Solutions Division
- Life Insurance Division
- Pacific Life Reinsurance
- Portfolio Management
You also attend a Q&A session with Pacific Life's Charirman & CEO, Jim Morris, who also started out as an actuarial intern!
Rotational Learning: Along with department specific assignments, you have the opportunity to learn about different actuarial positions at Pacific Life through rotations with other interns.
Intern Group Project: You will be assigned a summer group project to present at the end of summer to the CEO, along with a selection of key employees.

- Students pursuing degrees in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or Actuarial Science
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer skills (experience with MS Excel, MS Access, VBA, or C++ would be useful)
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Completion of at least one Actuarial Exam
