Ms. Prager joined the UCLA law faculty in 1972, became professor of law in 1978, and was named associate dean in 1979. She was later appointed dean of the UCLA School of Law from 1982 to 1998. During this time, she also served as the president of the Association of American Law Schools from 1986 to 1987. Ms. Prager is an Arjay and Frances Fearing Miller Professor of Law emeritus and a dean emeritus at UCLA. Ms. Prager has also been provost of Dartmouth College and president of Occidental College. In September 2008, Ms. Prager became executive director and chief executive officer of the Association of American Law Schools. Prior to law school, she worked in the U.S. Senate, the U.S. House of Representatives, and the California State Assembly.

Ms. Prager currently serves as a director of Pacific Mutual Holding Company, and serves on the Audit Committee, the Governance & Nominating Committee, and the Member Interests Committee.
