Mr. Celentano was named Chief Risk Officer in June 2012 and serves as senior vice president, Enterprise Risk Management. In this role Mr. Celentano is responsible for the delivery of comprehensive risk management services. This includes identifying, understanding, and managing aggregate risk of the company. He oversees all risk related functions, primarily equity, interest rate, and credit risk, among others and the development of the quantitative analytics and projections and certain investment valuations. He also oversees the development of economic capital measures.
Mr. Celentano joined Pacific Life in 1992 as assistant vice president, Product Management in the Institutional Products Division. In 1999, he was promoted to vice president, Structured Products and was named senior vice president, Product Management in the Investment Management Division in 2006. In this role, he headed a variety of functional areas, including: Accounting and Reporting, Operations, and Information Technology. Mr. Celentano was responsible for the division's financial and investment accounting and reporting, risk management, information technology, trade operations, and compliance functions. He also oversaw the division's budget, business plans, and strategic direction.
Prior to joining Pacific Life, Mr. Celentano held senior consultant and senior researcher positions at Travelers Insurance Company and CIGNA in Hartford, CT. Mr. Celentano also has served as an adjunct professor at the University of California, Irvine in the areas of accounting and investments.
