My career at Pacific Life started in February, 1994.  Hired as a Product Implementation Analyst in the Life Insurance Division, I was assigned the responsibility of creating a program that would be used to test mainframe code before being put into production. This being my first job in the insurance industry, I certainly had much to learn! Fortunately, the culture here at Pacific Life was (and still is) one where there are plenty of experts who are willing to provide advice and guidance.

After about two years of working in Product Implementation, a new opportunity opened up in the Life Insurance Financial Planning and Analysis area. I applied for the position, and got the job shortly thereafter. Being my first “official” Actuarial job – this was a very exciting time for my career.

The skills and professional relationships I had developed while working in Product Implementation helped tremendously in my new position. In this new position, I was responsible for performing financial projections for both Variable and Universal Life products as well as coding reserve programs for the Universal Life products. Once again, I was able to succeed due to the culture of openness and support for which Pacific Life is well known.

 A few years later, I accepted an offer to work in Pacific Life’s Annuities and Mutual Funds Division.Once again, I was in a situation where I had plenty to learn.And, once again, Pacific Life provided an environment where I had access to the top players in the industry who provided much needed training and guidance. After working on several different projects within the Annuities and Mutual Funds Division, my role is now focused on the Division’s Risk Management function.In this role, I report to the Annuities and Mutual Fund’s Chief Actuary and work directly with Pacific Life’s Chief Risk Officer and Chief Derivatives Officer in quantifying and analyzing the risk that the Annuities and Mutual Funds Division contributes to the overall organization.

I am one of many here at Pacific Life who has had the opportunity to work in many different roles for several different areas. For those who are dedicated to their craft and who are willing to work hard, the opportunities here at Pacific Life are plentiful.
