Create your own variable annuity investment allocation models
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif., October 8, 2008—Pacific Life introduces Custom Models beginning October 1, 2008. Custom Models give investors and their financial professionals the opportunity to tailor variable annuity portfolios and receive access to optional benefits that provide a lifetime income guarantee.
Included is an easy-to-use online “Custom Model Builder,” which helps financial professionals actively create customized models from among 33 investment options offered by 21 moneymanagement companies. Custom Models allow up to a 75/25 equity-to-fixed income ratio.
Custom Models are part of The Power of Diversification®, which provides three asset allocation categories to fit individual needs. Another category is Portfolio Optimization, the industry’s first strategic asset allocation service offered through variable annuities. Portfolio Optimization, which has a 14-year track record, offers five risk-based models. The third category is Asset Allocation Strategies, three investment options with global diversification. One or a combination of the VPS Balanced Wealth Strategy from Alliance Bernstein, the Global Allocation V.I. Fund from BlackRock, and the Franklin Templeton VIP Founding Funds from Franklin Templeton can be selected. Asset allocation is the process of distributing investments among various classes of investments (for example, stocks and bonds). It does not guarantee future results, assure a profit, or protect against loss.
“Pacific Life is excited to offer Custom Models as a new asset allocation category in which you can choose your own mix of investment options from a lineup of well-known, respected money managers,” says Kathleen McWard, vice president of marketing, Annuities & Mutual Funds Division. “Whether your goals are to grow your assets, protect them from loss, create income for life, or a combination, Pacific Life is committed to providing options to help you achieve your financial goals.”

You should carefully consider a variable annuity’s risks, charges, limitations, and expenses, as well as the risks, charges, expenses, and investment objectives of the underlying investment options. This and other information about Pacific Life are provided in the product and underlying fund prospectuses. These prospectuses are available from your registered representative or by calling (800) 722-4448 or (800) 748-6907. Read them carefully before investing.
Variable annuities are long-term investments designed for retirement. The value of the variable investment options will fluctuate, and when redeemed, may be worth more or less than the original cost. Withdrawals and other distributions of taxable amounts, including death benefit payouts, will be subject to ordinary income tax. If withdrawals and other distributions are taken prior to age 59½, a 10% federal tax penalty may apply. A withdrawal charge also may apply. Withdrawals will reduce the value of the death benefit and any optional benefits.
