Newport Beach, Calif. (January 6, 2006) – Pacific Life Insurance Company’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Thomas C. Sutton announced today that Jim Morris has been named chief operating officer of Pacific Life. In conjunction with this announcement, Mike Bell has been named as executive vice president, Life Insurance Division.

“The change in title recognizes the increasing responsibility taken on by Jim Morris in the past year,” said Sutton. “He will continue to be responsible for the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division, the Life Insurance Division, Pacific Select Group, and will have expanded involvement with other areas throughout the company.”

Morris’s most recent position has been executive vice president and chief insurance officer of Pacific Life since 2005. He began his career at Pacific Life in 1982 as an assistant actuary in the Life Insurance Division. After holding increasing responsible positions in product development and overseeing the business relations with M Financial Group, Morris was promoted to executive vice president of the Life Insurance Division in 2002.

Bell started with Pacific Life as an agent 27 years ago and managed Pacific Life’s San Francisco regional office for 11 years prior to transferring into the home office in 1999. Since then, he has successfully taken on increasing responsibility and most recently was named the Life Insurance Division’s chief marketing officer.

Founded in 1868, Pacific Life provides life insurance products, individual annuities, and mutual funds, and offers a variety of investment products and services to individuals, businesses, and pension plans. Pacific Life counts more than half of the 100 largest U.S. companies as clients1 and is a member of Insurance Marketplace Standards Association (IMSA), whose membership promotes high ethical standards for the sale of individual life insurance and annuities.
