Newport Beach, CA (Jan. 3, 2005) -- Pacific Life Insurance Company’s philanthropic arm, the Pacific Life Foundation, has announced a $1,000,000 donation to the US Fund for UNICEF, designated to South Asia Tsunami Relief, to aid in the emergency response effort for the affected areas. This represents the largest single donation ever made by the Pacific Life Foundation.
“This devastating natural disaster touches most of our employees in some way, whether it be through friends, clients, family, or perhaps those employees who have visited some of the affected areas,” said Thomas C. Sutton, chairman and CEO of Pacific Life. “In addition to the Pacific Life Foundation’s contribution, we are encouraging all of our employees to make some kind of donation to one of the many relief funds.”
Founded in 1984, the Pacific Life Foundation is the nonprofit grant making organization of Pacific Life Insurance Company. The Pacific Life Foundation contributed $3 million in 2004 to nonprofit agencies in the following areas: arts and culture; civic, community, and environment; education; and health and human services. In 2005, the Foundation will contribute $3.3 million to nonprofit agencies over and above this $1 million donation to UNICEF.
