Pacific Life Announces Eleven Officer Promotions to Assistant Vice President

Newport Beach, Calif. (March 30, 2007) -- Pacific Life Insurance Company’s Chief Operating Officer James T. Morris recently announced the promotions of Gordon Delianedis to AVP, Market and Credit Risk Management; Hany Gobreial to AVP, Corporate Risk Management; Frank J. Goetz to AVP, Underwriting; Kenneth E. Jack to AVP, Facilities Services; Hyung T. Kim, MAI, to AVP, Real Estate Capital Markets; Matthew Levene, CFA, to AVP, Credit Analysis; Jose T. Miscolta to AVP, Product and Portfolio Marketing; Douglas L. Robbins to AVP, Actuarial; Jill Thomas to AVP, Underwriting; Naomi D. Wheeler to AVP, Financial Analysis; and Andrew J. Zembles to AVP, Corporate Compliance.

Dr. Delianedis, a resident of Los Angeles, came to Pacific Life in 2002. In his initial role as Investment Research Analyst, he was responsible for modeling and analyzing derivatives and other highly structured products. He was promoted to Investment Research Director in 2004. As Assistant Vice President, Market and Credit Risk Management, he will be responsible for the quantitative analysis of financial assets, such as credit risk of fixed income securities, structured products, and derivative instruments. Dr. Delianedis has a Bachelor’s degree and a Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles, and a MBA degree from the University of Southern California.

Dr. Gobreial, a resident of Pacific Palisades, began his career at Pacific Life in 1998 as an Investment Research Analyst, providing quantitative and qualitative analysis of a variety of investments, including securities and derivatives. Dr. Gobreial was promoted to Corporate Division Risk Management Director in 2005. As Assistant Vice President, Corporate Division Risk Management, he will oversee the objectives and constraints of investments in the Company’s surplus portfolio, and recommend asset allocation strategies. In addition, he will oversee the risk & portfolio management strategies for the subsidiaries of the company. Dr. Gobreial has a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, and a Ph.D., from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California.

Mr. Goetz joined Pacific Life in 1996 with twenty years of insurance underwriting experience. He started as a Life Underwriting Consultant and was promoted to Director of Life Underwriting in 2005. As Assistant Vice President, Underwriting, he will be responsible for maintaining timely, cost effective, and mortality relevant selection of risks for employer sponsored business. He will manage New Business personnel and assist in the development of underwriting practices and procedures, development of competitive risk class criteria and underwriting requirements, audit oversight of all underwriters, and the development of underwriting compliance requirements. Mr. Goetz has a Bachelors degree from California State University, Long Beach, is a Fellow, Life Management Institute and a Fellow, Academy of Life Underwriting. Mr. Goetz currently lives in Irvine.

Mr. Jack, a resident of Mission Viejo, joined Pacific Life in 1989 with twelve years experience. He began his career at Pacific Life as Manager, Facilities Services, with responsibility for interior and exterior maintenance and engineering services for the Newport Beach headquarters. Over the years, this responsibility has expanded to include oversight and/or direct management of the Fountain Valley; Foothill Ranch; and Omaha, Nebraska facilities, and will soon include the Aliso Viejo facility. He directs functions including contract administration, lease management, design and construction management, landscaping, office relocation, and engineering services, as well as budget development and management. He will also assume responsibility for oversight of the Blue Water Café operations in the Newport Beach building. Mr. Jack received his certificate in Facilities Design and Management from the University of California, Irvine.

Mr. Kim, a resident of Ladera Ranch, joined Pacific Life in 1995 as a Real Estate Analyst and has held increasingly responsible positions in the Real Estate Division. He was promoted to Senior Loan Officer in 1999, to Real Estate Investment Manager in 2002, and to Real Estate Capital Markets Director in 2004. As Assistant Vice President, Real Estate Capital Markets, Mr. Kim will serve as the primary point of contact for bank syndication opportunities relating to structured mortgage debt investments. He will manage all facets of the investment production process for commercial mortgage related opportunities, and will coordinate with a variety of outside parties involved in transactions. Mr. Kim has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and is an MAI member of the Appraisal Institute.

Mr. Levene joined Pacific Life in 1997 as a Securities Accounting Analyst after six years of experience in auditing, accounting, project management, and financial analysis. He was promoted to the role of Investment Analyst in 1999, with responsibility for assisting in the analysis and structuring of private placement investment offerings, credit analysis of public bonds, and monitoring investment portfolio. He was promoted to Private Placements Manager in 2002. In his capacity as Assistant Vice President, Credit Analysis, he will manage, analyze, and monitor the credit risk of private placements for the Company’s general account. He will evaluate risk, negotiate and structure terms, and make credit recommendations to senior management. Mr. Levene has a Bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a Chartered Financial Analyst. Mr. Levene resides in Newport Beach.

Mr. Miscolta, a resident of Aliso Viejo, joined Pacific Life in 1991 as a Sales Illustration Analyst and was promoted to Senior Marketing Services Representative in 1992. He left Pacific Life in 1993 to pursue a role as a marketing manager, and returned to the company in 1994 as Variable Merchandising & Product Manager, responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of marketing material for the variable life product line. As Assistant Vice President, Product and Portfolio Marketing, he will coordinate activities associated with product management such as marketing materials preparation, filing with regulatory agencies, and due diligence for broker dealers. He will also develop strategic relationships with portfolio managers to maximize marketing opportunities and review sales material for compliance with NASD and SEC regulations. He has a Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University in San Diego, California.

Mr. Robbins joined Pacific Life in 2004 as an Actuarial Consultant responsible for overseeing production of GAAP reserves and related assets, as well as risk management responsibilities for the Annuities & Mutual Funds Division. His prior experience included nine years actuarial experience, specializing in equity-oriented products, along with product development and financial reporting. He also served for six years as an officer in the United States Army. As Assistant Vice President, Actuarial, Mr. Robbins will oversee and manage the production of GAAP reserves and related asset calculations and will oversee the design, development, and implementation of the Division’s three-year annual plan. Mr. Robbins has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin, Texas and a Master’s degree from the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a Fellow, Society of Actuaries and a Member, American Academy of Actuaries. Mr. Robbins resides in Norcross, GA.

Ms. Thomas, a resident of Aliso Viejo, joined Pacific life in 2005 as Director of Life Underwriting, with responsibility for providing leadership to underwriters in the selection of risks and for maintaining relationships with field personnel and producers. Her prior experience included thirty-one years in life insurance underwriting, during which she had management responsibilities as a senior underwriting director and chief underwriter. As Assistant Vice President, Underwriting, she will underwrite individual and joint cases with face amounts over $20 million for the full range of Pacific Life products, and will direct and manage the on-going training of underwriters as well as reviewing and approving referrals from underwriters. She will also be responsible for the development of New Business Underwriting Management staff. She has a Bachelor’s degree from Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts.

Ms. Wheeler joined Pacific Life in 1980 as an assistant in the Planning and Control department and progressed to the role of Senior Planning Associate. Ms. Wheeler was promoted to Financial Analysis Manager in 1992 and to Director of Financial Analysis in 1994. As Assistant Vice President, Financial Analysis, she will direct and coordinate all tasks relating to the total Company three-year planning process and the annual operating budget development and control process. In addition, she will manage bank reconciliation, cash control operations, and preparation of financial reporting for the Board of Directors. Ms. Wheeler has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and a MBA degree from California State University, Long Beach. Ms. Wheeler resides in Huntington Beach.

Mr. Zembles, a resident of Corona del Mar, joined Pacific Life in 2000 as an Advanced Design Specialist in the Life Insurance Division, responsible for assisting field management, producers, and client’s advisors with advanced executive benefit and estate planning case design. In 2002, he progressed to the level of Advanced Design Consultant and in 2005 was promoted to the position of Director of Compliance in the Corporate Division. As Assistant Vice President, Corporate Compliance, he will be directly responsible for Anti-Money Laundering and Privacy compliance programs. He will lead and provide direction for other company-wide compliance initiatives, such as Suitability and Code of Business conduct. Prior to joining Pacific Life, Mr. Zembles had over three years experience as an attorney in the music and entertainment industry. He has a Bachelor’s degree from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud, Minnesota and a Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law.
