Newport Beach, CA. (May 5, 2005) –  Owners of Pacific Life variable annuity contracts and variable life insurance policies now have access to two new portfolio options using the American Funds Insurance Series, managed by Capital Research and Management Company – American Funds Growth and American Funds Growth-Income.1 The VN Small-Cap Value portfolio, managed by Vaughan Nelson Investment Management, L.P. was also added.

“We are continually evaluating the premier managers in the U.S. to expand and improve our investment choices available to financial professionals and their clients,” commented Kathleen Hunter, vice president of marketing for the Annuities and Mutual Funds Division.  “These new investment options further enhance the asset allocation capabilities in our variable products.”

In addition to the new portfolios, Pacific Life welcomed the following portfolio managers to the Pacific Select Fund: Columbia Management Advisors Inc. – Technology; Jennison Associates, LLC – Health Sciences; Neuberger Berman Management, Inc. – Fasciano Small Equity.

According to Alyce Peterson, vice president of marketing services for the Life Insurance Division, Pacific Life retained its #1 sales position2 in the variable life insurance market in 2004 by continuing to enhance its variable life insurance products and the selection of investment options.  “Our life insurance policyowners can now choose from 43 investment options and 20 quality portfolio managers.  This breadth of choice and depth of management experience is important to our affluent client base” she explained.
