Newport Beach, Calif. (March 26, 2007) -- Pacific Life Insurance Company’s Chief Operating Officer James T. Morris recently announced the title change of Mark W. Holmlund to Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer. In addition, he announced the recent promotions of Martha Gates, ACS, to Senior Vice President, Operations; Gail Cobin Moscoso, CLU, to Vice President, Customer Service; and Scott E. Johnson to Vice President, Human Resources Technology;
Mr. Holmlund, a resident of Rancho Santa Fe, joined Pacific Life in 1993. In 2000, he was promoted to Executive Vice President of the Institutional Products Division, with responsibility for the strategic direction and management of the division, including developing and maintaining business lines and product offerings in the insurance and pension product arena. In 2005, he was appointed to the position of Executive Vice President, Investments, with responsibility over the Investment Management Division, the successor to the Institutional Products and Securities Divisions. Mr. Holmlund’s new title of Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer recognizes his role on the company’s general management team. Mr. Holmlund has a Bachelor’s degree from Willamette University and received an MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Ms. Gates joined Pacific Life in 1987 as a senior applications analyst in policy benefits and services. In 1992, she was promoted to assistant vice president with responsibility for customer service, new business, and training in Pacific Life’s Life Insurance Division. She was promoted to vice president in 2004. In her role as Senior Vice President, Operations, Ms. Gates directs the areas within the Life Insurance Division that provide service to producers and policyholders, including Client Services, New Business Services, Support Services, and Training. Ms. Gates received a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio State University and currently resides in Laguna Beach.
Ms. Cobin Moscoso, a resident of Laguna Niguel, came to Pacific Life in 1989 as Supervisor in the Customer Service Center in the Life Insurance Division. In 1996, she was promoted to Manager Customer Relations, and in 1998 to AVP Customer Relations. Her management responsibilities included customer relations, litigation and compliance, inforce administration, and claims areas within the Client Services Department. In her new role, she will assume responsibility for management and direction of all Client Service operations within the Life Insurance Division. Ms. Cobin Moscoso has over thirty years of experience in the insurance industry and is a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI), a Certified Life Underwriter (CLU), and holds several other industry certifications. She attended the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Mr. Johnson joined Pacific Life in 1997 with four years management experience relating to investment advisory client administration, trust operations, and portfolio administration in investment advisory and banking firms. He began his career at Pacific Life as Manager, Investment Accounting Systems, and was promoted in 1998 to Director of Investment Accounting Systems. He was promoted in 2001 to Assistant Vice President, Human Resources Technology, with responsibility for managing technology business applications and operations for the Human Resources Department, and more recently for management of enterprise Sharepoint applications. In addition to his current responsibilities, Mr. Johnson will assume responsibility for direction of all Corporate technology business applications. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hobart College in Geneva, New York and has completed MBA coursework at Villanova University, Villanova, PA. Mr. Johnson resides in Placentia.
