Business History
Mr. Tran joined Pacific Life in 1990 as treasurer and was promoted to vice president and treasurer in 1991. In 1995, Mr. Tran was named vice president of Corporate Development and Treasurer, to reflect his added areas of responsibilities in acquisitions and new business.
In June 1996, Mr. Tran was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer. He was elected to the board of directors of Pacific Life Insurance Company in August 1997.
Mr. Tran was promoted to executive vice president and chief financial officer in April 2001. He oversees the company's accounting, audit, enterprise risk management, tax, treasury, strategic planning functions, and chairs the company's Investment and Credit Committee. He is principally responsible for acquiring, forming, and overseeing Pacific Life's non-insurance businesses: Aviation Capital Group, College Savings Bank, and Pacific Asset Funding (subsidiaries of Pacific LifeCorp).
Mr. Tran began his career with United California Bank, then joined the Flying Tiger Line, Inc., then the world's largest global air freight company. He was also assistant treasurer at Vons Companies, Inc., a supermarket chain in Southern California.

Mr. Tran currently serves on the board of directors of various subsidiaries of Pacific Life. He has previously served on the boards of directors of Asset Management Finance Corp., Prandium, Inc., and Scottish Re Group.
