Business History
Mr. Holmlund joined Pacific Life in 1993 as assistant vice president, Portfolio Management.  He was promoted to vice president, Asset/Liability Strategies in 1995.  In this capacity, he served as a resource for the associates making product and investment decisions by researching potential investment ideas and developing portfolio strategies for the Life Insurance, Securities, Institutional Products, and Annuities & Mutual Funds Divisions.

In 2000, Mr. Holmlund was promoted to executive vice president of the Institutional Products Division.  He was responsible for the strategic direction and management of the division, including developing and maintaining business lines and product offerings in the traditional insurance and pension product arena.  In 2005, he was appointed to the position of executive vice president, Investments with responsibility over the Investment Management Division, the successor to the Institutional Products and Securities Divisions.  In 2007, he received the title of chief investment officer. 

Prior to joining Pacific Life, Mr. Holmlund was director, Institutional Sales at Daiwa Securities America in Coronado, California for two years.  He was vice president of Institutional Sales at Merrill Lynch in Los Angeles from 1985 to 1991.
